I got back from Devscovery Friday afternoon and spent some much-needed time at home. Tomorrow I leave for Boise, ID to teach an ASP.NET class. But first: it’s football time in Tennessee! The whole family’s going to tonight’s home opener. Tennessee is going to play two hotshot freshman quarterbacks. Should make for an exciting time in this, the first ever Sunday game at Neyland Stadium.

I spent the afternoon at the flying field prepping my new Top-Flite Corsair for its first flight. We got everything trimmed and balanced and were about to take to the air when my pal Craig, who’s an expert flyer, reminded us to do a range check. During the range check, the control surfaces went crazy. Looks like the plane has a bad receiver, which would have been disaster had we discovered it in the air. I’m going to order a new receiver tomorrow and try again next Sunday afternoon.

The plane’s decked out with all the bells and whistles, including a scale cockpit, a Saito 120 engine, split flaps (just like the real Corsair), and a custom set of rotating retracts. I can’t wait to get this baby in the air! It’ll give me something to look forward to this week in Boise.
